1. Scope of the Terms of Use

These Terms of Use dictate how you interact with the Obscurau web interface, the REST API, and any official desktop or command-line clients. They supplement our Terms and Conditions. By executing scripts against our API or uploading files through our web interface, you agree to these technical restrictions.

2. Acceptable API Usage and Rate Limits

Your pricing tier determines your API rate limits. Our edge network automatically drops requests that exceed this limit and returns an HTTP 429 status code. You must configure your automation tools to respect these headers.

You may not bypass our rate limiters by routing requests through proxy networks, rotating IP addresses, or creating multiple automated accounts. If we detect this behavior, we will null-route your incoming traffic and suspend your API keys.

Do not use automated scraping tools against the public HTML pages of our web dashboard. If you need programmatic access, use the official API.

3. Intellectual Property Rights

The Obscurau web application, virtual machine design, obfuscation algorithms, and marketing content belong to Obscurau Ltd. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive license to use the dashboard and API for the sole purpose of obfuscating your code.

You retain full copyright and ownership of the original Lua scripts you upload. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your submitted source code. You grant us a temporary license to process, compile, and translate your code exclusively to return the obfuscated output to you.

4. Data Ephemerality and Code Processing

When you submit a file for obfuscation, our compiler loads the source code into memory. Once the obfuscated file generates, we return it via the API or web interface and immediately overwrite the memory buffer. We do not write your unencrypted source code to permanent disk storage, and we do not use your source code to train machine learning models.

5. Uptime and Service Interruptions

We maintain an operational target of 99.9% uptime. However, we do not guarantee continuous, error-free access to our platform. We frequently deploy patches, update virtual machine opcodes, and restart edge nodes. We announce scheduled maintenance windows via our Discord server and status page at least 24 hours in advance.

In the event of an unplanned outage, we will restore service as quickly as possible. We do not offer financial compensation or credits for downtime unless you have a separate Enterprise Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiated with our sales team.

6. Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time through the dashboard settings. Deletion destroys your active API keys, usage history, and payment configurations.

We may terminate your access immediately if you distribute malware, attempt to reverse-engineer our proprietary virtual machine, or harass our support staff. We do not issue warnings before terminating accounts involved in malicious activities.
